Tittira Jātaka - Discourse bout Praising and Respecting

तित्तिरजातकं
Tittira jātakaṃ
恭敬長者偈

ये वुड्ढ मपचायन्ति,
नरा धम्मस्स कोविदा।
दिट्ठेव धम्मे पासंसा,
सम्पराये च सुग्गतीति॥

Ye vuḍḍha mapacāyanti,
narā dhammassa kovidā;
Diṭṭheva dhamme pāsaṃsā,
samparāye ca suggatīti.

Those Wise Dhamma practitioner and who gain the insight of it,
[penetrating the Dhamma itself]
Who in life has respect the virtuous and mature in age,
Will be born in happy realm hereafter.


Common translation:
"Those who are wise in the Dhamma and who revere
their superiors are praised in their present lives and are
are also blessed with happy lives hereafter."

Notes:
To respect elder or superior should seen by these 3 categories :
1. By their status [the servant should have sense of respect towards the employer]
2. By their virtue and merits [good person]
3. By their age [elderly]
